Sioux Falls City FC preseason match at Minnesota Aurora

May 26, 2024

The first Sioux Falls City FC match of the 2024 season was a friendly against USL W side Minnesota Aurora. The match took place at the Vikings practice facility that also doubles as Aurora's home.

Aurora has had a tremendous start as a franchise on and off the pitch. They sell out TCO Stadium (7,000+ capacity) consistently and have been rumored as a possible NWSL expansion contender. This was a closed door game, only invited guests were in the stands.

Aurora jumped out to a 1-0 lead off a header early in the game. The game would remain 1-0 until late when Katharina Oelschlaeger drove down the right side and got a shot on goal. The keeper gave up a rebound that went right to Lulu Moreno's right foot and then into the back of the net. The game ended 1-1. Pretty impressive showing from SFCFC.
